2019 as well.

Background and Rationale:
We
have prepared the check authorization in advance of the School Board meeting,
to allow more time for individuals to peruse the bills. Checks are prepared for bills budgeted and
received. Most payments cannot be made
or released until authorized by the School Board action. This authorization will allow us to make
early payments and avoid late charges.
This includes the projected payroll for the 15th of the month. The appropriation request for May 2019 also
needs to be approved.

Background and Rationale:
In order for the Giles
County School System to be reimbursed for qualifying educational expenditures
through the Virginia Public School Authority Technology Notes, a resolution
must be adopted by the local School Board.
Divisions may not reimburse themselves for project related expenditures
incurred more than 60 days prior to the adoption of resolution. I recommend the School Board confirm the

Background and Rationale:
Each year, schools are requested to submit field
trip requests to the School Board for their review. Our policy requires field trips that are in
excess of 500 miles or overnight trips to be approved by the Board. I recommend that the Board approve field
trips, based on this information.

I would
like to ask the School Board to approve the bid IFB 4-2019 (GCTC Building
Materials - Metal Building) from Metal Building Outlet Corporation. Bids
were received from:

I am
requesting the School Board to approve GCPS joining the SAM Food Buying Co-Op (17
divisions in Southwest VA) effective 7/1/19. We were originally part of
the NRV Co-Op; however, Montgomery County Schools is considering out-sourcing
their school nutrition program (terrible idea) and because of that, the
remainder of our school divisions are left hanging. The SAM group has extended
an invitation for us to join them, which is actually a much better/bigger co-op
and will mean probable cost savings. I need approval this week, however,
so I can submit our letter of intent because the co-op goes out to bid in April
and I need to include my usage numbers with theirs to drive down pricing.
To summarize, it would mean Giles County, Radford City, Pulaski County, Floyd
County, and Botetourt County would leave the NRV co-op and join the SAM co-op
to create a larger food buying group. Thank you for your consideration!
